Boat Maintenance

CAPRI 26 SKEG
Guy Black, a Capri 26 owner from Hollywood,
FL, recently rebuilt his skeg. He removed the
original skeg, split it and removed all the
cabosil filler. He replaced the bolts with 1/2"
stainless steel rods bent as shown in picture.
1/2" marine plywood was cut to fit the old skeg
shell (2 pieces). The 2 pieces of plywood were
routed to allow the SS rods to be captured with
in the wood. Epoxy and SS screws were used
to assemble the wood core. The remaining space within the shell were filled with chopped
glass and epoxy resin.
